When you support one girl, you support many
The Young Mothers Sewing Program is a one-year intensive residential career skills program offered to young pregnant women and mothers experiencing deep poverty. The program began in 2018 with less than a dozen women. Today, the program houses, feeds and serves 95 women and their children.
Monday through Friday the mothers attend school which is paid for by our organization. They also participate in daily sewing classes where we provide intensive instruction on tailoring, design and entrepreneurship. Their babies and children either attend school if they are school-aged or are cared for by our in-house day care providers. All women enrolled in our program receive counseling as well as information and training around child development and parenting skills. At the end of the year, women who successfully demonstrate their skills receive a sewing machine and ongoing support around housing and employment. You can come alongside a woman breaking her family out of the poverty cycle by providing a partial sponsorship of $125/month, a half scholarship of $250/month, or a full scholarship of $500/month.
A scholarship goes directly to providing housing, education, health care, equipment, and meals for a woman in the current class. Partners receive photos and updates from the woman they support. Interested in learning more about the current class, or gifting a scholarship? Click the button below.

Sponsoring a Girl
Sponsoring one of the young mothers in our training is one of the most powerful and sustainable ways you can help empower them to create a better life for themselves and their children. It will help us cover all their daily living costs including food, shelter, clothing, and medical expenses. In addition to the financial support, each of our girls would love to receive your emotional support. You can share life-changing letters, photos, and encouragement with your sponsored teenager.
$5,000 per year
Providing Ongoing Education
Our program covers the costs of each woman’s vocational training as well as their education. This includes costs for their uniform, shoes, books, stationery, any necessary medical and dental treatment, lunch for those at day schools, and transport to and from school.
Sponsor the education of a woman for $200 a year.

Sowing Machines and Seamstress Training
We provide each woman in our program with a sowing machine and a year of seamstress training. Costs include not only paying for the machine itself, but also paying a teacher and buying materials and supplies. We also must pay local technicians for minor repairs. Please consider donating at the following levels for our sewing program:
- $50 covers the cost of sewing kits and classroom supplies for one entire year for one machine.
- $100 will cover machine repairs for one machine when necessary;
- $150 will cover the cost of purchasing a sowing machine
- $200 will cover the cost of an instructor to teach classes for an entire month;
Sanitary Pads
Many young women in Rwanda do not have access to menstrual products. Without pads, women and girls miss work and class. Our sowing programs enable girls to create reusable menstrual products that they can use and donate to others in the community. Please buy a packet – your contribution is critical to the girls and young women we service.
$20 per packet of 4 reusable sanitary pads.
