Empowering Girls

Mushisimbi Youth Conservation (“MYC”) is the brainchild of Emmanuel Harerimana, a man born and raised at the foot of the Virunga mountains in Rwanda, home to the magnificent mountain gorillas, humanity’s closet relatives. Emmanuel shares a deep and abiding love for these endangered creatures, working tirelessly as a certified gorilla trekking guide to promote conservation both locally and abroad. He is equally dedicated to supporting the local communities that live near these great apes who have long struggled to create sustainable futures for themselves and their children. We invite you to take some time to familiarize yourself with Emmanuel’s life-changing work to support one of the most overlooked and yet vulnerable members of this mountain region– teen mothers and their babies. We welcome you to learn about Muhisimbi’s comprehensive housing and vocational training center for teen mothers and their babies and the profound impact our programs are having in the region. We hope you will be inspired to get involved in our mission and help us make a difference for generations to come.

VISION
To provide a nurturing and protective space where girls become self-sufficient and empowered to raise their children with dignity, confidence, and strength.
